BRIEF HISTORY
After the creation of Osun State on August 27th 1991, the indigenes of Osun State who were serving at the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) moved to Osun State and started the preparation for the take-off which kicked off with Radio Service on November 25th, 1991 with transmission from Ile-Ife, while administrative headquarters remained at Osogbo. The Television Service came up on 27th August, 1992 with transmission from Ibokun. With the two put in place, Osun State became a State with voices and visions.
Initially, the two stations were operating under different managements with single Board of Directors until January 5th 2000 when they were merged together under one management and one Board of Directors. The Corporation as presently constituted, has a Board of Directors, the General Manager and six directorates which include the followings:
i. Administrative Department
ii. Finance Department
iii. Marketing Department
iv. Engineering Department
v. Radio Services Department
vi. Television Services Department
These departments are further subdivided into divisions (headed by Deputy Directors), section (headed by Assistant Directors) and units (headed by Chiefs). All these departments co-exited in order to contribute to the attainment of the overall mission and vision of the Corporation. Without mincing words, the Engineering Department is the only department that has maintained its name unlike other departments which had experienced surgical operation at one time or the other. For reference purposes, the Department of Personnel, Finance and Supplies had been severally changed to Finance and Establishment (F & E), Finance, Administration and Commercials (F.A.C.), commercials was carved out and later changed to Marketing Department. By January 2oo5, Finance and Administration Department was split into finance and Supplies Department and Administration Department.
The impact of changes and reformation blowing across the Corporation was heavily felt in the current year under the able leadership of our amiable, dynamic, creative, resourceful, talented and visionary Board Chairman, Dr. Yemi Farounbi. At present, the hotherto Corporation which harboured just a Radio and one Television Station had metamorphosed into two Radio and Television Stations each. At Ile-Awiye, Oke Baale, Osogbo, we have TV Channel 32UHF and Radio II - Living Spring - (104.5FM). Proudly we have Radio I - Orisun FM - (89.5FM) at Oke-Itase, Ile-Ife and TV Channel 22 UHF (New Dawn Television) at Ibokun in Obokun Local Government Area of the State. Transmission and beaming of interesting programmes to the teaming populace had begun in earnest in all the mentioned stations.
