Engr. Samson Oyedele Oyabanji, a native of Yakoyo, Ife North Local Government Area, Osun State, was born on 15th November, 1952, about 56 years ago.
He attended Local Authority (L.A.) Primary School Yakoyo and Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Origbo, Ipetumodu, between 1957 and 1969 for his Primary and Secondary Education.
He sat and passed WASCE in Division Two in December 1969.
He taught as a Primary School Teacher at L.A. School Toba in Ife East Local Government for two years (that is between 1970 and 1971).
In 1972 January he proceeded to Ondo High School, Ondo Twon for his Higher School Education. In January 1973 he sat and passed the G.C.E. Advance Level in Physics, Maths and Geography, after which he again taught as a Secondary School Teacher at Ijebu-Ode Grammar School between September, 1973 and August 1974. During that period he sat and passed United Nation Education Scholarship Examination and won UNESCO Scholarships.
With this UNESCO scholarship Engr. S.O. Oyabanji went to study Electrical/Electronic Engineering at Technical University of Budapest Hungary, in Europe.
He obtained Masters Degree M.Sc in Electronics/Telecommunication Technique in June 1980.
Engr. S.O Oyebanji became a graduate member of Nigerian Society of Engineers with Registration number 02927.
Engrs. S.O. Oyebanji started his Professional Carrier as a broadcast Engineer with Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Abeokuta between 1980 and 1981. Between 1981 and 1982, he worked with Radio Nigeria FRCN Ibadan as Engineer Grade I on GL.09.
In February 1982, he joined the Television Service of Oyo State (TSOS) as one of the Pioneer Engineers of that newly established Television Station of Oyo State. By 1985, when TSOS was merged with Radio O-Y-O to become Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) he was promoted to Senior Engineer. H rose to the position of Assistant Chief Engineer in June 1990. He was an active member of Assistant Chief Engineer in June 1990. He was an active member of the Ibadan Branch of Nigeria Society of Engineers from 1985 to 1991 when he left Ibadan for Osogbo as a result of creation of Osun State in 1991.
On creation of Osun State, 1991 he was again one of the Pioneering Engineers in Osun State Broadcasting Corporation as Assistant Director of Engineering. As soon as Engr. S.O. Oyebanji settled down with his professional job in Osogbo the State Capital he again became an active member of Nigerian Society of Engineers Osogbo Branch in 1994. In 1996 he received an award of Certificate of Honour for Excellent Service to Osogbo Branch as the branch publicity secretary for some years.
In July 1993 he was pomoted to the Post of Deputy Director of Engineering, and ten year later, that is, in January 2003 he became the Director of Engineering in Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC). And in August 1, 2007 he was promoted to the post of Director-General of OSBC. The position he holds till date.
Engr. S.O. Oyebanji, even though very busy n his professional career job in the past 3 years, ( as a result of higher responsibilities of his new office), yet he did not relent in his efforts to serve the branch of the society nor reduce his contributions towards the development of Engineering profession in Osun State. All these again earned him another Award of Exdellence in May 2008; that time it was an Award of Excellence of outstanding contributions towards the development of Engineering profession in the state.
Engr. S.O. Oyebanji in the course of his career has also received many commendations and awards for his excellent professional job performance from his employers; Television Service of Oyo State, Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State and Osun State Broadcasting Corporation.
He has also won many academic and professional awards, and has authored many professional articles and papers.
Engr. S.O. Oyebanji has attended various courses in broadcast Engineering and Management in Nigeria, Italy, Hungary, and United State of America. He has also attended many International Conferences and Seminars.
Engr. Oyebanji has served the Nigerian Society of Engineers in various Capacities. He is married with children.
